It was a sunny morning on July 23, 1976 in Mount Summit, Indiana, that Blue River Valley Elementary and High was conceived. At 11:00 am, the ground breaking ceremony that would unite the old Mooreland School and Mt. Summit school took place. Our Superintendent, Gerald Shelton, announced that our desire was to build a flexible yet functional and traditional building that would meet the needs of students for many decades to come.
